Premium Motorized Retractable Screens by Templar
Motorized Patio Screens in New Braunfels, TX
One press of the remote and the covered patio becomes a shaded, screened room. Press it again and the screen rolls back into its housing, and the view is wide open.
The System
A Patio Screen That Rolls Away When You Don't Need It
Fabric, housing, side tracks, and motor, all sized to your opening and finished to match the house.
A motorized retractable screen lives in a slim headbox along the top of the opening. Press the remote and the fabric drops down inside a side track on each post, closing off the patio against sun, insects, and the neighbors. Press it again and it disappears back into the housing, leaving nothing but the frame you chose to match the trim.
Templar builds each unit to order, up to 25 feet wide, with three headbox sizes, 14 core powder-coat colors, and more than 200 fabrics from Twitchell, Serge Ferrari, and Mermet. Alpha or Somfy motors run it, and a zipper side-track system rated to 80 MPH winds keeps it flat and sealed on the days the Hill Country breeze turns into something more.

The Same Patio With the Screen Up and Down
Tap between the two. The housing sits along the beam and the tracks follow the posts, so the retracted screen is barely there.

Why People Add One
The Patio Problems a Motorized Screen Solves
Every measure we book for one of these starts with a patio that is not being used.
-
Mosquito Hour Ends the Evening
Dusk is the best time to be outside here, and near the rivers it is also the worst.
-
West Sun Owns the Patio at Five
A covered patio facing west is still unusable until dark for most of the summer.
-
The Neighbor's Upstairs Looks Right In
New-build lots are tight, and a second-story window makes the patio feel public.
-
Pollen and Dust on Everything
Cedar in winter, oak in spring, and caliche dust all year settle on the outdoor furniture.
-
The Cheap Roll-Up Flaps and Tears
Loose shades whip around in a gust; a tracked screen stays flat and sealed.
-
The Outdoor Kitchen Sits Idle All Summer
A grill island is a big investment to abandon from July to September every year.
Fabric, Color, Track
Build the Motorized Patio Screen to Match the House
Three decisions set how the finished screen looks and behaves. We bring samples of all of them to the measurement.
Popular Fabrics
Open weaves let the breeze through and keep insects out; tighter weaves take the sun and the view in from outside; heavy-duty vinyl shuts out weather. Fourteen of the most-ordered Twitchell fabrics are below, from a range of more than 200.

How the Screen Is Held at the Edges
The side retention decides whether the screen is a shade or a sealed enclosure. Templar offers four ways to do it, and the right one depends on the opening, the exposure, and what you want the room to do.
Zipper Side Tracks
Sealed edge · bug-tight · the 80 MPH option
The fabric edge is welded into a zip that runs inside the side track, so nothing gets past it and the screen stays put in a gust. This is the one to pick for a bug-free room.
Cable Guided
Stainless cable · light and unobtrusive
A thin cable each side keeps the screen from swinging without a full track. Good for shade on an opening where a heavier side channel would look out of place.
Recessed Tracks
Hidden in the post or column
Built into the structure during construction or a remodel, so all you see when the screen is down is fabric. Worth planning early if you are building the patio now.
No Retention
Free-hanging · pure shade
A weighted bottom bar and no side guides at all. Simple, clean, and fine for sun control on a sheltered side of the house where wind is not a factor.
Every screen is driven by an Alpha or Somfy motor with a handheld remote. If you already run the house from an app or a wall panel, tell us at the measurement and we will look at what the motor can tie into.

Where They Go
One System for Every Large Outdoor Opening
Templar screens are built for openings a window screen could never cover. These are the ones we get asked about most.
Covered Patios
The classic install: one or two screens between the posts, and the patio becomes a second living room from spring to fall.
Outdoor Kitchens
Keep flies off the prep counter and the afternoon sun off the cook without walling the kitchen in.
Pergolas and Pavilions
Screens mount to the posts of a freestanding structure just as well as to the house, louvered roof or not.
Porches and Balconies
Privacy from the street or the neighbor's upstairs, with the housing tucked under the eave.
Pool Cabanas and Casitas
Shade and bug control for the small buildings that get used most in July and August.
Shops and Garage Openings
Motorized shade across a workshop or garage bay, sized to the opening and run from the remote.
Built for This Climate
Why Motorized Screens Earn Their Keep in Central Texas
The same conditions that make a Hill Country patio hard to use are the ones a tracked, motorized screen is designed around.
Hundred-Degree Afternoons
Solar mesh takes the edge off a west-facing patio without closing it in.
River-Valley Mosquitoes
Homes near the Guadalupe and Comal get the heaviest evening insect load in the county.
Spring Gusts and Storm Fronts
Zipper side tracks rated to 80 MPH keep the fabric flat when a front rolls through.
Cedar and Oak Pollen Seasons
A closed screen keeps the worst of the January cedar and March oak drop off the furniture.
A Nine-Month Outdoor Season
March through November is patio weather here, if the bugs and the sun are handled.
Tight New-Build Lots
Privacy fabric turns a patio overlooked by three neighbors back into your own space.
